Walter’s Pal Blu Berry ready to greet runners at the BI-LO tent.

Despite a cold and stormy week in South Carolina that was complete with snow, ice and earthquakes, the 17th annual Myrtle Beach Marathon was well-attended.

Cold rain in the morning presented runners with a bit of a challenge and sharp wind gusts later in the day presented yet another obstale before runners approached the finish line after 5k, 13.1 miles or 26.2 miles.

Still, more than 10,000 runners followed BI-LO's Chek Soda van, which served as the pace car for the race.

After the race, marathon and half-marathon runners enjoyed refreshments and healthy snacks courtesy of BI-LO. Runners were greeted at the refreshment tent by BI-LO's Walters Pal Blu Berry, who warmed runners up with a smile.

BI-LO has continually particiapted in the Myrtle Beach Marathon at various levels of sponsorship for many years. The event is important to the Myrtle Beach community as well as BI-LO associates and customers who look forward to the invovlement in the race each year.
