Local Bacon County High School Band gets ready for their performance at the Harveys store No. 1635 customer appreciation day on May 23.

Harveys store No. 1635 in Alma, Georgia showed support for the local community by hosting and taking part in two recent community events.

Harveys hosted a special event for customers on May 23 with a customer appreciation day during Memorial Day weekend. The event included a performance by the local Bacon County High School Band and a presentation of a check for $1,500 to support the band. Customers of all ages got a chance to climb a rock wall, have their face painted and spin a wheel for prizes, including Harveys gift cards. The event also included raffles of a grill and Alma-certified blueberry products, as well as in-store samplings of produce, the cake of the month, local Alma blueberries and an appearance by the 2015 Blueberry Queen.

“We are very thankful for the continued dedication our customers show us every day and we want to show them how much we appreciate them by hosting this special event,” said Mike Hoyle, Harveys store director.

The Alma Harveys also sponsored the Georgia Blueberry Festival on June 5 and 6. Held to honor and recognize the importance of the blueberry crop to Alma and Bacon County, the event kicked off June 5 with a Blueberry Street Dance. On June 6, Hoyle and Harveys representatives joined more than 750 attendees who enjoyed an afternoon of free giveaways and samplings of blueberry pie, cobbler and muffins provided by the Harveys bakery department.

“Our customers really enjoyed seeing our support and partnership with a local cause,” said Hoyle.
