Winn-Dixie store no. 456 in Alexander City, Ala., transformed for a day on April 11, from a neighborhood grocery store to a grocery store representing its own gymnastics team.

The Alexander City Parks and Recreation Department set up mats and small balance beams in the storefront to show customers their skills and recruit new team members. Team members, who range in age from elementary school to high school, chatted with customers about how much fun they think gymnastics is and worked to recruit new members for their gym.

The event also included face-painting for event attendees and a gymnastic show that entertained customers. The local gymnastics team was able to recruit several new members and Winn-Dixie was able to offer our customers a fun and exciting afternoon!

“Being able to host community events like this is what I really love about my job,” stated store director Chris Hall. “We are not just in the business to sell groceries, we are in the business to also make a difference in our customers lives and our community.”
