Columbus, Georgia, Fort Benning and Phenix City, Alabama, also known as the “Tri-City,” welcomed more than 7,000 people to the Second Annual Tri-City Latino Festival, a festival held to promote cultural bonding by bringing surrounding communities together to share aspects of Latino culture.

Winn-Dixie was the presenting sponsor of the festival, which was held at the Columbus Civic Center.

With six locations throughout Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama, Winn-Dixie has established a strong presence within these diverse communities. All six stores participated in the festival event, one of which was Winn-Dixie store No. 439 in Columbus.

Winn-Dixie District Director Reichard McGough credited Jason Farrell, director of Store No. 433, with organizing area store participation.

“This is a very important community event and I’m glad all six of our Tri-city stores took part,” McGough said. “I was able to connect to a lot of people.”

Tri-City Latino Festival events included a cultural parade, beauty pageant, dance contests and art displays from local high schools. Also, Winn-Dixie associates presented gift cards and prizes to those who won trivia games during shows, handed out water and snacks to festivalgoers, rented a photo booth for attendees and offered face painting and balloon artist for children.

“Diversity is an important component of Winn-Dixie’s corporate social responsibility, and we are pleased to be a part of this Tri-city festival,” said Jerry Arnette, Winn-Dixie store No. 439 director.
