Winn-Dixie teamed up with the Jewish Community Center (JCC) for the Uptown Classic 5K and Family Fun Run Feb. 16 in scenic Uptown New Orleans.

Winn-Dixie store No. 1430 hosted the Uptown Classic’s after party, which highlighted the variety of kosher food options available at Winn-Dixie stores and gave the community a chance to sample kosher favorites.

The Winn-Dixie team arrived early to make sure the store had an attractive and thoughtful set up for participants to enjoy after the race. Associates provided vegetarian red beans and rice, and local juicing expert Stephanie Osborne was on-site with delicious juice samples made with fresh, local Winn-Dixie produce.

Winn-Dixie’s LiveWell Louisiana partners attended the event to share health tips and information with the participants. LiveWell provided educational brochures and healthy recipes that have a local flair.

“We really enjoyed participating in this event,” said store no. 1430 store director Marlon Hawkins. “The Uptown Classic was a great way for us to share our kosher offerings with the community and to remind customers that we are in tune to their specialty needs.”

More than 400 participants attended the event, allowing Winn-Dixie and its local partners to encourage healthier lifestyles in the New Orleans community.
