The BI-LO Charleston, South Carolina regional team supported an effort to present a free concert to the community every Tuesday in June.

For five Tuesdays, the team turned out to showcase BI-LO promotions and products to crowds of about 2,000 people at the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina Memorial Riverfront Park.

The park hosted a new up-and-coming country music artist at the outdoor park each week. The first week began with a kickoff at store No. 5410 as BI-LO participated as official shuttle bus sponsor and family fun zone sponsor. Concert attendees could get all their last-minute necessities from a special pavilion at the store. Vendor Dietz & Watson provided free finger sandwiches and product information, and BI-LO promoted its “Free Grocery Giveaway,” telling attendees about the great promotion and giving attendees opportunities to register for the giveaway on Apple iPads.

Performers included Kelsea Ballerini, Canaan Smith, Chase Bryant and Kristian Bush.

The BI-LOcal team was also on-site with samples including South Carolina-certified varieties of caramel-covered popcorn, peanuts and delicious cheese biscuits, as the busy crowd welcomed performers to the stage.

For the last two weekly performances, the BI-LO team brought out the prize wheel and invited adults to spin for their chance to win a mystery gift card, cutting boards, koozies, water bottles, reusable BI-LO shopping bags and more. BI-LO provided the children free bubbles, sidewalk chalk, hand clappers and more to keep busy while dancing the night away.

BI-LO had such a good time during June that the team also decided to participate in a pre-Fourth of July celebration on July 2 at Boone Hall Plantation. The event included a full concert by country artist Easton Corbin. Like the concerts in June, BI-LO offered the crowd free giveaways, highlighted the award-winning apple pie with caramel drizzle and told people about the Wounded Warrior Project partnership. The pie was an immediate hit throughout the crowd, and attendees asked if they could purchase the pie directly from the BI-LO booth.

“The concert series was a great opportunity that gave us a chance to interact with a wide variety of existing and new customers,” said Community Involvement Specialist Alissa Crankshaw. “We were also able to promote the Free Grocery Giveaway, our delicious pies and the wonderful partnership with Wounded Warrior Project. Our customers appreciate the one-on-one time and it is always great to hear their feedback and praise!”

The BI-LO team also handed out small American flags to all 2,500 attendees at the iHeart America concert as part of a special dedication for BI-LO’s support of the Wounded Warrior Project.
