Winn-Dixie No. 2465 in Sebring, Florida welcomed more than 225 people to the store for a meet and greet with racecar driver John Dean as part of the festivities leading up to the 63rd Annual Mobil 1 "12 Hours of Sebring" races.

The official pace car of the races, a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette, also made an appearance at the store for people to sit in and pose for pictures with. Winn-Dixie No. 2465 was one stop of a four-store tour the pace car made at Highlands County Winn-Dixie stores. In addition to store No. 2465, the pace car made appearances at No. 687 also in Sebring, No. 2548 in Lake Placid and No. 609 in Avon Park.

“The appearances with John Dean and the pace car were a hit,” said store No. 2465 Director Traci Farris. “We had people from out of the county come to our store to meet him and get autographs. The feedback I heard from people who attended was just great.”

Dean signed more than 200 autographs and gave away several pairs of four-day tickets to the 12 Hours of Sebring.

“He was very friendly with everyone, but really took time with the kids – talking to them about his car and racing in general,” said Farris.

Also a big hit at the event were the giveaways; Winn-Dixie set up a tent and handed out backpacks, visors, water bottles and mystery gift cards.
