Winn-Dixie’s New Orleans Region recently teamed up with Children's Miracle Network, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, loyal customers and other local partners to honor the legacy of an associate who cared passionately about the community -- especially children.

One year ago, Winn-Dixie Baton Rouge district director Mark Boudreaux died in a tragic accident. It was his mission to touch as many lives as he could, and the Mark Boudreaux Memorial Golf Tournament was created to honor his memory and keep his dream alive. This year marks the second annual event. Proceeds from the tournament and the scan program in Baton Rouge storestotaled more than $25,000for Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. The funds will stay in the community to support the hospital, as well as community members who benefit from Children's Miracle Network.

Through the partnership with Children's Miracle Network, Winn-Dixie's regional leadership team has had the opportunity to reach incredible people and touch the lives of many families. Melissa Blount and her 4-year old daughter Macy, who has struggled with health issues since birth, will benefit from the help of generous customers, Winn-Dixie's community support and Mark Boudreaux's legacy.

"We are so grateful that Winn-Dixie is supporting Children's Miracle Network," Blount said."Programs like these have opened doors for my family and allowed my child to receive the healthcare she needs to thrive and live a better quality of life. As a single mother, the outpouring of support for this great organization benefiting families like ours has been overwhelming."

Supporting the community and keeping Mark's vision alive are very important to the region, and associates rallied to help.

"Mark was a loyal and generous man with a giving heart," said Karena Niblett, New Orleans region vice president. "He dedicated his life to helping people in need. It is an honor to ensure that he is remembered for his valuable contributions to organizations, as well as for the countless lives he touched."
