Winn-Dixie No. 447 provided food to about 160 anglers as they fished for bass and raised money to benefit local foster children.

The Winn-Dixie team at Store No. 447 in Anniston, Ala. has established more than its commitment to the community with its support of Hope Home Project, a local charity that supports foster children. They also helped fulfill a promise of hope for the future to those who need it most.

Through its community partnership with Hope Home, Winn-Dixie helped facilitate a successful bass fishing tournament which raised more than $20,000.

“It is an honor to offer hope to the less fortunate children in our area by supporting their current needs,” said Mark Junior, store director of Winn-Dixie No. 447. “We support the vision of this charity to create a home for foster children that are not currently placed with a family.”

In addition to helping coordinate the event with local partners, residents and fisherman, Winn-Dixie donated food for the 160 anglers, making a major contribution to the event’s successful turnout. The funds raised will provide a home for more than one hundred local foster children, and more than one thousand within the next several years.

The Winn-Dixie team in Anniston has continued support of Hope Home through its in-store scan program. The donation program has generated more than $1,000 towards Hope Home Project.
