Chef Curtis Stone is an internationally known celebrity chef, entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling cookbook author and host of his own cooking show, “Beach Eats USA” on the Food Network. He appears frequently on a variety of nationally-broadcast TV shows in the U.S. and his native Australia, and last year, he opened his first restaurant, Maude, in Beverly Hills, California.
Now Chef Curtis has teamed up with Southeastern Grocers (SEG) to share his cooking expertise with BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie customers. SEG’s new “Cooking with Curtis for under $10” program helps shoppers eat well for less through a series of fresh, seasonal and affordable meals that families can make at home from scratch that taste great and won’t burden the budget.
The program premiered Sept. 16 and has gained an impressive amount of attention throughout the BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie store coverage areas, where thousands of customers have seen the new “Cooking with Curtis for under $10” commercials and are picking up copies of his recipes from standup displays in stores.
Every month, Chef Curtis will highlight a fresh “hero” ingredient that will be featured in his weekly recipes for easy-to-make family meals that cost less than $10 at BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores.
The excitement for “Cooking with Curtis for under $10” partnership has been building at stores, on social media, and in print and broadcast media. Customers are telling associates they’re excited to make these healthy, budget-friendly meals at home with their families, and associates have rallied around the program and new visibility that Chef Curtis is bringing to the stores. It’s all a testament to Chef Curtis’ star power and his international reputation for cooking with excellence.
In September, the hero ingredient was tomatoes, and the featured recipes were the Ultimate Fried Green Tomato BLT and Tomato and Corn Succotash with Grilled Chicken Drumsticks. The recipes are posted online at www.winndixie.com/cookingwithcurtis, www.harveyssupermarkets.com/cookingwithcurtis and www.bi-lo.com/cookingwithcurtis. Also posted to all three sites are “Tips and Tricks with Curtis,” featuring Chef Curtis showing step-by-step methods and helpful tips for preparing his recipes using the month’s hero ingredient.
Associates also got a chance to win prizes by entering a “Cooking with Curtis for under $10” contest. To enter, associates sent a picture of themselves preparing a recipe featuring tomatoes while wearing their new blue “Cooking with Curtis for under $10” aprons, which were distributed free to all associates companywide.
