Winn-Dixie continued its support of women’s leadership and empowerment as the returning presenting sponsor of Generation W, a women’s conference with a mission to educate, inspire, engage and connect women.

The theme for the conference, held March 27 in Jacksonville, Florida, was “Passion and Purpose.”

More than 1,300 attendees enjoyed a variety of notable speakers and panelists including Thomson Reuters Chief Content Officer Deb Walton, PGA Secretary Suzy Whaley, Actress and Playwright Tina Lifford, CNN Digital Editor-at-large Kelly Wallace and many more.

Nearly 80 Winn-Dixie associates attended the conference and some of our own leadership served as speakers and inspiration leaders, including Bi-Lo Holdings Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Rebecca Sinclair and Bi-Lo Holdings Merchandising Director Tracy Toomer. Toomer participated in the Generation WE panel discussion, and highlighted the importance of gender equality and how Winn-Dixie is intentionally including women in leadership roles. Sinclair spoke about Winn-Dixie’s continued support of the conference and brought attendees some good news -- their lunch break would feature delicious meals provided by Winn-Dixie.

“From store managers to vice presidents, many women hold leadership positions within our company, and we highly value opportunities like Generation W to inspire women’s leadership,” Sinclair said. “Educating and motivating women to make a difference in their communities is closely in line with our values at Winn-Dixie. As a company, our highest priorities are to provide the value, convenience and products that today’s women need.”

Bi-Lo Holdings Senior Corporate Training Chef Deanna Stevens and her team prepared more than 1,300 lunches for attendees, including chicken salad sandwiches on ciabatta bread and superfood salads. Meals also included Winn-Dixie branded reusable lunch bags with coupons for lunch items that attendees could use to save in their neighborhood stores.

Winn-Dixie also hosted two popular conference displays. At the interactive “Selfie Station,” attendees could use fun props to post a photo on Facebook to commemorate the day. They also could enter for a chance to win a Winn-Dixie prize pack, including a gift card and a variety of products from women-ownedbusinesses offered in our stores. Attendees also flocked to Winn-Dixie’s display featuring samples of Full Circle organic products and spun a prize wheel for a chance to win other items.
