Appearing on WJXT News 4 Jax, Bi-Lo Holdings Loyalty Sales and Marketing Manager Deborah Shapiro informed Jacksonville, Fla.-area residents how Winn-Dixie is prepared to serve them during Passover, as well as tasty Winn-Dixie Passover recipes.

Winn-Dixie and BI-LO are constantly trying to do better when it comes to meeting the needs of our customers. Both store banners this year connected with customers and worked closely with community organizations to help them celebrate Passover, the treasured Jewish holiday commemorating the liberation of the Israelites from Egypt.

The eight-day holiday, celebrated from April 3 - 11, is a time for family and friends to make cherished memories around the Seder meal table. And BI-LO and Winn-Dixie stores stood out in their communities as they held events and stocked shelves t for their neighbors to celebrate this holiday of faith, family and food.

Stores throughout BI-LO’s Charleston Region worked with local community organizations to showcase their dedication to their Jewish customers throughout the Passover holiday. Stores in Hilton Head, South Carolina worked with Congregation Beth Yam in support of their annual Women’s Seder dinner on March 18, donating kosher wine for a pre-Passover celebration. The region continued to demonstrate their commitment to being a resource for the Jewish community as BI-LO stores in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina nurtured partnerships with Temple Shalom and Beth El Orthodox Synagogue to gain greater insight to kosher-keeping shoppers, expanding the stores’ Passover offerings.

On March 22, the team at Winn-Dixie store No. 5 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida joined families in sharing the story and traditions of Passover during a Model Matzah Bakery event in partnership with Chabad at the Beaches, where attendees baked their own personal matzah, an unleavened bread traditionally eaten during the Passover holiday. Winn-Dixie continued to build bonds with the Jacksonville Jewish Federation’s Shalom Jacksonville by hosting the Passover in the Mazah Aisle event at store No. 190 on March 29, inviting customers to mingle with members of the organization while enjoying kosher sampling and giveaways.

Kosher-keeping families in the Jacksonville area were treated to a very special TV segment on News 4 Jax, featuring Bi-Lo Holdings’ very own Loyalty Sales and Marketing Manager Deborah Shapiro. Shapiro shared traditional Passover recipes with local viewers, including a Traditional Charosetand Chocolate Covered Matzo Bark, which could also be found in the Passover e-Book created in partnership with kosher food celebrity Jamie Geller.

Winn-Dixie store No. 326 in Tamarac, Fla. honored its tradition of hosting a Model Matzah Bakery event in partnership with Chabad of Tamarac. Families from surrounding congregations joined the store’s matzah-making festivities to enjoy the interactive, Passover story-telling experience, including grinding the wheat, making the four and rolling out the dough to put in the oven.

In Winn-Dixie’s Montgomery Region, store No. 445 and 517 in the Birmingham, Ala.-area continued to nurture their relationship with the Levite Jewish Community Center by providing Passover giveaway baskets and donating food for the organization’s Seder dinner, held at nearby Temple Beth-El on April 10.

Winn-Dixie’s Tampa Region partnered with the Jewish Federation of Sarasota Manatee’s Passover Women’s celebration and provided approximately 400 attendees Winn-Dixie goodie bags filled with kosher cookies, a haggadah and other Winn-Dixie giveaways. Additionally, store No. 2529 in Tampa, Fla. hosted the Chabad at Wiregrass during a Passover wine tasting at the store.
