For several years, the Winn-Dixie store No. 291 associate team in Aventura, Florida, has developed longstanding partnerships with the Jewish Community Services of South Florida Kosher Food Bank (JCS) and the Scheck Hillel Community School.
And on Oct. 11, Winn-Dixie Store Director Edrey Figueroa and his associates welcomed more than 30 school families to the fourth annual Kosher Food Scavenger Hunt. At this unique scavenger hunt, participants filled their baskets with nearly $3,000 in kosher products to be purchased and donated to the Scheck Hillel Community School’s Kids for Kosher Food Bank Program.
The event and the food bank help get students involved in serving those less fortunate in their community. Winn-Dixie has been the supermarket of choice for the annual scavenger hunt since its inception, helping raise valuable awareness and thousands of pounds in kosher products to benefit JCS.
“We are proud that we have continued to be a resource for two amazing community organizations,” Figueroa said. “Thousands of our kosher-keeping neighbors don’t know where their next meal will come from, and this event brings us together to help eliminate hunger in our community.”
JCS Kosher Food Bank Coordinator Bonnie Schwartzbaum thanked Winn-Dixie for their continued support.
“Winn-Dixie has helped us reach countless clients in need of simple, everyday products they may not receive otherwise,” she said. “Not only are we grateful for being invited into Edrey’s store, we are also grateful that Winn-Dixie provides such a wide variety of kosher products that are essential to the community we serve.”
