This was the first year for the Jerome Brown BBQ and Music Festival in Jacksonville, Florida, to partner with Winn-Dixie, BI-LO and Smithfield Farmland. About 2,500 people turned out for food, live music and fun.

There was also a BBQ competition between “Guns” and “Hoses,” nicknames for Jacksonville police and fire teams. The winning team won $3,500 to donate to a charity of their choice and the losing team received $1,500 for the same purpose.

The Smithfield Farmland commitment donated fresh pork for cooking samples as well as manned a tent and talked with customer about their products. Guests who attended received giveaway coupons, pig key chains and magnets.

“We were thrilled with the turnout for this festival,” said volunteer and Bi-Lo Holdings Senior Director of Supplier Diversity Derek Lott.
