Throughout the Southeast, communities come together at this special time of the year to spread cheer in celebration of the holidays — and BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores were all part of the fun.
Harveys store No. 1643 in Blountstown, Florida joined the community’s Christmas parade for the third year and won a first place honor in creativity for their “Florida Christmas” fishing boat float. BI-LO store No. 5742 in Edisto Island, South Carolina created an “under the sea” theme for a local community parade float and passed out BI-LO reusable bags, stickers and coloring books to children along the route.
BI-LO store No. 5558 in Batesburg, South Carolina also took part in a community parade with the theme “Light of Christmas” as the store enlisted the help of Walter’s Pals mascots, who danced through the parade and greeted smiling kids with a fresh fruit “high five.”
Stores also celebrated in other creative ways. Harveys store No. 1696 in Albany, Georgia presented a chilly surprise from the North Pole as the Coca-Cola Polar Bear stopped in to greet customers and to pose for photos. And Santa Claus himself stopped by BI-LO store No. 5757 in Lexington, South Carolina, to speak to customers of all ages and give them an opportunity to share their holiday wishes.
Winn-Dixie store No. 2433 in Tampa, Florida participated in a tree-lighting event at the city’s Hyde Park, attracting more than 6,000 people. Winn-Dixie provided more than 1,000 free mini cupcakes for children and also gave promotional items to more than 1,500 attendees. The event included an early visit from Santa and festive holiday music to ensure all left with a little Christmas cheer.
