National grocery industry magazine Progressive Grocer has recognized seven of Southeastern Grocers’ female leaders with its prestigious “Top Women in Grocery” award. The award celebrates the critical roles women perform in the grocery industry and the progress they’re making toward greater representation at all levels.

The award is recognized as the industry’s premier women’s leadership awards program, and all winners were selected from nominations from supervisors and peers. The winners will be invited to an awards celebration on Nov. 12 in Orlando, Florida.

Yolidurky Romero, director of Winn-Dixie store No. 247 in Miami.Yolidurky will receive the Top Women in Grocery Store Manager award for exemplary performance in all facets of grocery store leadership. She began at Winn-Dixie in 1995 as a part-time Cashier. Her high levels of leadership, determination and drive helped her earn her current position as Store Director, which she has held for the past 10 years.

Note: The following six women will represent Southeastern Grocers and receive the Top Women in Grocery “Rising Star” award for exemplifying outstanding corporate leadership and performing above and beyond the call of duty in the previous year.

Rondel Hartwell, Director of Competitive Response.As Director of Community Involvement and charitable giving, Rondel continued to connect stores to communities through local events and sponsorships. As Director of Competitive Response, she leads all aspects of competitive response planning to ensure stores are in the best possible position to retain and grow business.

Kim Jackson, Director of Advertising Operations.Kim far surpassed expectations in two roles that are critical to the marketing department in the past year. She served as marketing lead on the cross-functional executive team that integrated newly-acquired stores into the company, and she has since led the business side of the company’s advertising operations, where she has optimized processes.

Jennifer McKiney, Produce/Florida Regional Sales Manager, Tampa Region.Jennifer is responsible for the produce and floral results of 81 store locations. She has excelled in this role in the last year and under her leadership, produce sales in her region have seen marked increases. She also took the initiative to suggest a number of operational changes at a warehouse facility, resulting in notable improvements.

Kim Smithers, Senior Manager, Sales & Marketing.Kim led a team that contributed to the messaging and strategic marketing plan for the integration of acquired stores. She is an expert project manager and has overseen marketing support for the remodeling of more than 30 stores, the rebranding of a pharmacy prescription program and the 90th anniversary of Harveys Supermarkets.

Dawn Soltis, Deli Regional Sales Manager.Dawn’s Winn-Dixie career began as a Cashier 32 years ago and she has progressed through store and leadership roles to her current position. She has led delis in the region to considerable sales increases, and she said that the creation of job aids to support associates and working with vendors were methods that helped foster excitement for sales initiatives.

Deanna Stephens, Corporate Chef. Chef Stephens has excelled at representing the Fresh Team throughout stores, the community and the culinary profession. Deanna has been the driving force behind the development of signature recipes and programs that have helped to drive sales. Additionally, she created five new regionally-based training chef positions, developing the role from the ground up to support stores.
