The Pepsi Shop with a Pro event was highlighted with a donation to the Live like Bella Foundation for childhood cancer.​

Winn-Dixie teamed up with Pepsi and The Miami Marlins Aug. 4 for the inaugural “Shop with a Pro” event at store No. 366 in Miami. The event concluded a four-week sweepstakes as local resident Amanda Meninno took the grand prize of a $1,000 shopping spree with Miami Marlins Pitcher Jose Fernandez.

Along with the one-of-a-kind shopping experience, the event featured a $1,000 donation to the Live like Bella Foundation for Childhood Cancer on behalf of Winn-Dixie and Pepsi. Fernandez, an avid supporter of the Miami-based organization, joined representatives of Winn-Dixie and Pepsi, as well as Meninno, to present the donation. The organization’s co-founder, Raymond Rodriguez-Torres, said he was grateful to witness the support of the foundation he created in his daughter’s memory.

“We are touched by the wonderful donation that will further fund childhood cancer research and awareness,” he said. “It’s an honor to be a part of the inaugural ‘Shop with a Pro’ event and join generous corporate partners like Winn-Dixie, Pepsi and the Miami Marlins.”

Meninno and Fernandez they dashed through the store to fill several carts with Meninno’s favorite items, drawing cheers from spectators as the 10 minute time limit ticked away. Customers joined in the fun as they enjoyed giveaways on behalf of the Miami Marlins Street Team and Pepsi, as well as a meet-and-greet session with Fernandez and team mascot Billy the Marlin.

Winn-Dixie Miami Region Vice President Tony Jorges said the event was a terrific celebration of Winn-Dixie’s connection with the community.

“It’s efforts like these that showcase Winn-Dixie’s commitment to giving back,” he said. “From the donation to the Live like Bella Foundation to watching Amanda and Jose run down the aisles, it was a very exciting day for everyone.”
