BI-LO stores set up a tent at the University of South Carolina during freshman orientation to introduce stores to incoming students.​

School is back in session, and Southeastern Grocers’ banners helped welcome students and teachers back to the classroom by participating in open houses and block parties. From major universities such as Clemson and South Carolina to small town elementary schools, Southeastern Grocers continues to build relationships within the communities it serves.

Associates from BI-LO No. 5539 in Clemson, South Carolina, were on campus at Clemson University, where they handed out 1,500 BI-LO-branded string backpacks, loaded with sample-sized products and coupons from vendors.

In Columbia, South Carolina, associates from BI-LO store No. 5282 and BI-LO store No. 5723 came to the campus of the University of South Carolina and nearby student housing complexes, where they passed out 7,000 burgundy BI-LO-branded string backpacks. During several weeks of orientation sessions, the group also stopped by campus for students to register their BI-LO BONUSCARD and apply for open positions at nearby stores.

BI-LO store No. 5046 in Clinton, South Carolina, participated in the Back to School Block Party at Presbyterian College in Clinton by providing reusable bags and other goodies for incoming freshman.

Associates at store No. 5265 were at the University of South Carolina Upstate, where they handed out reusable bags, bottled water and other vendor products.

BI-LO store No. 5754 in Darien, Georgia, joined the local YMCA for their yearly Back to School event! The event gathered businesses from all over coastal Georgia to come together for a fun event to get children and parents excited for the upcoming school year. BI-LO served as the official food sponsor providing hot dogs, chips, cookies, water, Gatorade and fruit, as well as kid-friendly BI-LO branded giveaways.

“The event was a great success for the YMCA and our BI-LO team,” said Sheena Zotter, store director. “Not only did the nearly 350 children who received a backpack full of school supplies have a wonderful time, our BI-LO team at the event had a great time volunteering and getting involved with our local community."

Associates from Winn-Dixie No. 2484 in Spring Hill, Florida, continued to build relationships with community partners by participating in an open house event for Explorer K-8 School. During the event, Store Director John Orozco and associates exposed the Winn-Dixie brand to nearly 2,000 families by signing up potential customers for reward cards.

“Strengthening partnerships with schools and organizations in our local community is so important,” said Orozco. “These relationships we make and maintain give us an opportunity to introduce Winn-Dixie to people and show them we’re here and we care about the neighborhoods we live in.”

Orozco and his team also gave out hundreds of Winn-Dixie branded items including water bottles, back packs, reusable shopping bags, lanyards, visors and shopping list pads.

Winn-Dixie No. 723 in North Fort Myers, Florida, also built upon its established partnership with a local school. Store associates set up a table at the Littleton Elementary School open house and gave out more than 350 Winn-Dixie reusable shopping bags that they had filled with coloring books, crayons and water bottles.

“Teachers and parents were all appreciative of our participation at the open house event, and kids really seemed to enjoy opening the bags to find coloring books,” said Greg Roughgarden, service area manager. “Winn-Dixie was very well-received,and the event was extremely successful.”

Winn-Dixie store No. 723 teams up with Littleton Elementary on several events throughout the year, including hosting the school in-store for a fall music recital and Christmas caroling.
