Young fans meet and greet with James Jones as he autographs a mini basketball set.​

On Oct. 26, customers at two Miami, Fla. Winn-Dixie stores (store No. 371 and store No. 387) were treated to a special appearance by World Champion Miami Heat forward James Jones and Burnie, the Heat’s beloved mascot. The visits were made possible thanks to Winn-Dixie’s community partnership with The James Jones Legacy Foundation, an organization that strives to make a difference in the lives of children with the reinforcement of positive models.

More than 400 shoppers at each store were all smiles as Burnie energized the crowd before Jones’ arrival. Awestruck fans brightened the store during a meet and greet autograph signing, snapping pictures with Jones and enjoying some lighthearted fun with Burnie.

Winn-Dixie store No. 371 Store Director Lorenzo Rodriguez was blown away by the reception his Winn-Dixie customers gave Jones.

“It’s great to see our customers benefit from the wonderful partnership we have with the James Jones Legacy Foundation,” he said. “We love what James does for the community and it was great to be a part of that effort.”

Jesus Nunez was director of Winn-Dixie store No. 387 at the time of Jones’ visit, and he applauded the player’s dedication to helping underprivileged kids.

“It’s an honor to work with James to help give back to the community,” said Nunez. “What James does for South Florida youth makes him a champion both on and off the court.”

Jones was humbled by the reception he received upon arriving at each store.

“The amount of support we received from the Winn-Dixie crowds was overwhelming and we greatly appreciate it,” said Jones. “I would like to thank Winn-Dixie for working with the foundation to bring our community together and we look forward to many more collaborations in the future.”
