Since 2011, Winn-Dixie store No. 291 Interim Assistant Store Director Steven Westbay has earned praise from many of his Aventura, Fla. neighbors for providing outstanding customer service and understanding the needs of the community.

His willingness to learn and his outgoing personality have made him a tremendous representative of his store to several community partners, including Jewish Community Services and its Kosher Food Bank, Aventura Chabad and Teens on Wheels. Recently, Westbay again extended a hand to this neighbors by spearheading a food drive and store tour for the local Chesed (Hebrew for “love” or “kindness”) Club, a youth group of young ladies dedicated to making a difference in their community.

Westbay has held several positions throughout his store, gaining valuable experience as a front end manager, service area manager, and fresh area manager. Throughout his roles, he has gained a great deal of knowledge of kosher food and Jewish traditions, which has allowed him to build meaningful connections with his customers.

“It’s extremely rewarding to be able to represent Winn-Dixie and know our neighbors rely on us for their everyday needs,” said Westbay. “I’ve been fortunate to work with some fantastic store directors that have helped me understand my community and build a very important trust with our customers.”

Westbay says continuing to develop his understanding of the kosher community has allowed him to help his fellow associate’s better serve their customers and build a stronger store team. Store Director Cory Weissman lauded Westbay for his continued development in his bright, young career.

“Steven has always embraced every opportunity he has earned, and he did a fantastic job from start to finish with the Aventura Chabad,” he said. “We received tha

nk-you letters from the Chesed Club praising Steven for his hard work, so it shows that he really understands the importance of being involved.”
